Patients happy with GP emergency stations in Friesland
13-02-2025 -Patients are satisfied with the GP emergency stations in Heerenveen, Leeuwarden and Sneek. This is evident from a study into their experiences. The posts receive a score between 7.7 and 8.5. Especially the friendliness of the employees, the opportunity to speak Frisian and the good care are appreciated. However, there is still room for improvement, such as clearer information about waiting times and better signs to find your way.
What has been studied?
Dokterswacht Friesland wants to keep improving healthcare. That is why Zorgbelang Fryslân conducted a study in 2024. 53 patients told by telephone about their experience with the GP emergency stations. They gave their opinion on:
- The reception upon arrival
- The waiting time
- The conversation with the doctor
- How easy to find the mail
Key findings
✅ Friendly reception makes a big difference
Patients feel comfortable and safe when they are received in a friendly manner.
✅ Waiting times are usually fine, but explanation could be better
If the waiting time becomes longer, patients want an update after 15 to 20 minutes.
✅ Good care and personal attention
In Leeuwarden, patients are happy with the expertise of the doctors. In Heerenveen and Sneek, they especially appreciate the personal attention and friendliness of the staff.
✅ Clear explanations and aftercare are important
It is nice if patients are well informed about what to expect. An advice card with extra explanation for at home is useful, but a conversation with the doctor is still necessary.
What can be improved at the GP emergency stations?
- Better signs, so that patients can find the mail more easily.
- Learn more about the waiting time in the waiting room.
- A cozier furnished waiting room.
- Leaflets explaining common complaints.
- Raise awareness of the chat app for health questions.
Dokterswacht Friesland will work on these points for improvement in order to continue to improve care.
